Panel Discussion: Comics And.....

Panel Discussion: Comics And New Technologies

panel_new_technologiesEver since the time when man was drawing on cave walls, up until the utilization of 3D computer programs, comics have been closely related to technology, not only in matters of theme or technique, but in printing methods, as well.
Plenty of things have been written and discussed on the subject – about a creator’s necessity to be taught the traditional techniques before dabbling in digital comics, about print’s imminent death, and even about the road the Medium must travel before becoming something distinctly different from the familiar “comic book”.
In this panel discussion, we will attempt to examine a different side of technology, one that isn’t immediately related to the actual creation of a comic, but to the ways a creator can exploit technology to make his work better known to the public and reach the maximum potential audience. We will talk about social Media, platforms, and how we got from the newsstand to the Internet.
Participants:
— Stamos Mazarakos (SoComic, Conne3ion)
— Ektoras Apostolopoulos (Cartoonist)
— Fillis Hatzopoulos (Mangatellers comics collective)
— Raphael Voutsidis (Mangatellers comics collective)
