Humana Links with Greenway Medical Technologies to Supply Advanced Information Technology to Primary Care Physicians

Humana Inc. recently announced its partnership withGreenway Medical Technologies, Inc. to provide integrated technology to primary care providers, which will help doctors and payers exchange clinical information.
In a release, the Company said that the strategic alliance of its Electronic Health Records (EHR) Rewards program and Greenway's integrated solution for EHR, practice-management and interoperability will provide physicians the information and point- of-care opportunities necessary to support patient management and enable automated reporting for contractual performance measures.
Humana said that its EHR Rewards Program offers financial incentives to assist qualified physician practices in using EHR systems. Specifically, Humanawill subsidize up to 85 percent of the cost of purchase of Greenway's PrimeSUITE EHR solution for physicians practicing in the Humana network. Such incentives encourage the sharing of clinical information betweenHumana and physicians.

"This partnership will facilitate communications as well as the exchange of clinical information between payers and physicians. Ultimately, our partnership benefits consumers as it helps enable physicians make the best decisions possible for their patients."

"Ready access to electronic health information, including the fluid exchange of clinical data among providers and payers, is critical to advancing the delivery of coordinated, effective care, reducing administrative hassles and costs, and improving overall population health."
The program aligns with the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act), increasing the availability of clinical data at the point of care and enhancing care coordination between the patient and health care providers.
